Week 16 results lead to pair of 'play in' series to end regular season

A pair of two-game series this coming weekend will decide the final two teams who will get through the Major Arena Soccer League 2's Championship Weekend coming up March 31 and April 1 at Mesquite Arena, home of the Mesquite Outlaws.

There are many scenarios that could play out in upstate New York when the Rochester Lancers -- who just announced their official affiliation with the Baltimore Blast (MASL) -- host the Iowa Raptors. Iowa earn a playoff spot with one regulation time win while Rochester is in with regulation time wins on Friday and Saturday. Overtime games would introduce a slew of potential tiebreakers.

In Brownsville, the math is a little easier. The RGV Barracudas must defeat the Chihuahua Savage II in regulation both Saturday and Sunday to earn a playoff spot. If the Savage pick up even one point in either game, they are in.

So far, the Amarillo Bombers and Wichita Wings have earned playoff spots out of the Midwest Division, but their games this coming weekend are still important as results could have implications of how the teams are seeded going into the March 31 semifinals.
