Sockers will open and close week 12; Wichita hits road for two at New Mexico, Amarillo

The one-loss San Diego Sockers will both open and help close Week 12 in Major Arena Soccer League 2 as they host the Turlock Express on Friday and local rivals Ontario Fury 2 on Sunday.

San Diego is atop the West Division with a 7-1 mark, while Turlock comes in at 2-4 and Ontario is 2-4 as well. The Sockers are just a game ahead of the RGV Barracudas at 6-2. RGV is idle this weekend

Rene Floes continues to lead the Sockers in goals scored with eight while Ismael Rojo has seven goals. The Express have been led so far by Armondo Fernandez.

Wichita will be on a two-game road trip with a stop Saturday in New Mexico and Sunday in Amarillo. The Wings are a game up on the Omaha Kings in the midwest, who are idle until mid March.

Frolian Ramirez, Jacob Gandarilla and Sergio Fuentes all have 17 to lead the Runners offense. This will be a rematch of a game January 15 when the Runners pulled off one of the shockers of the season, defeating the Wings in Wichita 7-6.

The Wings are led by Kevin Ten Eyck with 22 points while Bransyn Felty is their leading goal scorer with 14. Saturday’s start is at 5:05 p.m. MST.

Sunday's kickoff in Amarillo is at 3:05 p.m. The Bombers are led by all star Vitor Patriani who has 16 goals and six assists this year.

Cincinnati-based BC Swere will host the Chicago Mustangs Saturday night in an 8 p.m. EST start.

The Swerve (1-5) are trying to chase down Chicago (2-7) n the East, and are led by  Andrej Novakovic while Chicago's Angel Rodriguez is having a fine season with six goals and 10 assists to pace the Mustangs. Michael Marchionna is Chicago's leading goal scorer with 11.

In one other Saturday tilt, the Express and Ontario Fury 2 will meet in Ontario in a 7 p.m. PST kick off. 

Mo Guye leads the Fury with five goals on the season.

The league's only undefeated team, the defending-champion Cleveland Crunch, are not in action this weekend, and will return to action March 5 on the road against the Muskegon Risers who are second in the East Division.
