Rivalry renewed, Mustangs win big in front of a sold-out crowd

The old rivalry between Chicago Mustangs and Detroit Waza Flo was renewed tonight in front of a sold-out Grand Sports Arena (Hoffman Estates).
Detroit came out swinging and recover from an early goal by Alexis Camarena (12:07) to take a 3-2 lead on the first quarter with goals fromStrahinja Lubovich (9:10), Ian Walker (8:30) andDominic Scicluna (2:21). Gonzalez scored for the Mustangs with 1 minute left to end the quarter.
But after a goal from Chris Fitch (6:47) the magic and steam ran out for the Waza Flo that saw their lead vanish on the second quarter were goals from Alexis Camarena (13:41), Oscar González (9:11) Francisco González (5:55) Patricio Barroche (2:53) put the Mustangs back in control at the half with a 6-4 lead.
Three uncontested goals on the third quarter from the Mustangs tamed the Waza Flo for the rest of the night – Patricio Gómez (14:11/6:15) and Negro Sandoval (5:15) -.
The fourth quarter was a feast of goals for the Mustangs, Oscar González (13:35), Patricio Gómez (10:30), Ryan Ibarra (9:56), Fernando Hernandez (1:54) and Patricio Gómez (0:54) with Chris Fitch (9:09) putting the Waza on the board.
As always where the Scicluna brothers travel, a good show is guaranteed, and this was no exception.
14-6, plenty of goals on a very physical but amicable renewed rivalry between Chicago and Detroit.
The Mustangs will pay the visit to Detroit on Saturday February10th at the Melvindale Civic Arena (Detroit, MI) with a 7:05 kickoff time and will be back home for a decisive game against the Colorado Blizzard on Sunday February 25th at 4:05 pm.
