Potential playoff preview this weekend as Wichita, Bombers prepare for post-season

TAMPA, Fla. -- The Amarillo Bombers will swing back into action this weekend with a tough assignment, two road games against the Wichita Wings.

It kicks off a busy month of professional indoor soccer for both cities -- each team has five regular season games remaining -- which will culminate for both with the Major Arena Soccer League 2 "Championship Weekend" July 17 and 18 at Hartman Arena in Wichita.

The Wings (5-1, .833 winning percentage )earned their playoff berth by winning the Heatland Invitational held earlier in the regular season, while the Bombers (3-3) have qualified by virtue of their winning the Rocky Mountain Invitational also held earlier this spring.

A third team -- the Cleveland Crunch -- are also headed to the post-season by virtue of their win in the Great Lake Invitational series of games.

Amarillo will figure prominently into who gets the final spot, when they host the Omaha Kings on June 20. A Kings win, and Omaha will grab the final playoff spot, but a Kings loss would mean the Chicago Mustangs would be the fourth team in.

Wichita's famed "Orange Army" will be out in force for both games, set Friday night at 7 p.m. Central Standard Time, and again Saturday with the same kickoff time. It will be the second time Wings fans will get a chance to see MASL stars Franck and Uzi Tayou dress for the Wings, who signed the brothers on loan from the Ontario Fury for the remainder of the M2 season.
