Playoff picture clears as Crunch, Wings, Risers, Mustangs, Fury 2, Soccers 2 reach postseason

TAMPA, Fla. – The Major Arena Soccer League 2 playoff picture became much clearer this past weekend, with six of seven postseason spots now secured heading into the final weekends of the regular season.

Under a format approved by team owners, the No. 1 overall seed in the league – which will be the Cleveland Crunch, the defending M2 champions – receive a bye through to the league’s “Championship Weekend.”

In the division from which the No. 1 seed comes, the second and third place teams in that division will meet in a one-game opening round.

In the remaining two divisions, the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds will meet in a one-game playoff with winners advancing the Championship Weekend as well.

As it stands right now, Cleveland, San Diego, RGV, Wichita, Chicago and Muskegon have all made the playoffs, with the final spot still up for grabs between the Omaha Kings and Amarillo Bombers. The first-round games to date:

>>> San Diego 2 will host the RGV Barracudas on Sunday, April 3 at 12:30 p.m. PDT. Ticket and broadcast information HERE.

Amarillo is 5-5, but have two home games remaining starting with a visit by the Turlock Express this weekend, March 20, and a visit by the Kings on Saturday, March 27.
