Here we go! Wichita Wings will host OKC Certified Lions Saturday, Nov. 23
TAMPA, Florida -- Major Arena Soccer League 2 will open its eighth season in style, as the Wichita Wings -- fresh off maybe the best game aver played in league history in last year's semi-finals -- will host the OKC Certified Lions Saturday night in Wichita.
The evening will actually be a MASL doubleheader. The Wings game will kick off at 5 p.m. CST, with the brand new Major Arena Soccer League Women to be on display in an 8 p.m. start as the Wichita Lady Luck host the ICT Aztecs.
The Wings game Saturday will be at Park City Arena, Park City, Kansas, site of last year's semi-final playoff showdown between Wichita and the Rochester Lancers. The Lancers twice built three-goal leads, including 7-4 late in the third, only to see the Wings rally and eventually take the lead, 9-8, with under five minutes to play.
However a sixth-attacker goal tied it, and Taner Bay -- who is expected to suit of the Roc City Boom in MASL 3 this season -- scored in overtime to propel Rochester to the title game. Because of arena issues, the Lancers are inactive during the 2024-25 season.
