Omaha Kings happy to be back home as they host Chicago Mustangs for a pair this weekend

The center of the indoor soccer universe will be Omaha, Nebraska, this weekend as the Kings host the Chicago Mustangs for a pair of games, with each team jockeying for a potential playoff spot.

Four teams will gather in Wichita July 17 an 18 for the Major Arena Soccer League 2 championships. Two teams -- Wichita and Amarillo have already secured their spots, while the Cleveland Crunch have the inside track on a third spot.

But both the Mustangs and Kings hope to have something to say about that. The Mustangs will travel to Cleveland May 22 for a final regular season matchup. If the Crunch win that, they will advance to the playoffs. If Chicago wins it, tiebreaker scenarios would come into play to determine which team advances.

Chicago comes in at 3-1, while Omaha, which was originally scheduled to play in Major Arena Soccer League 3 this spring, was granted provisional status to play in M2 instead.

The Kings come in with two of the league's top scorers in Ali Sodal (nine goals and one assist) and Bobby Jaffrey (five goals and four assists.) Sodal Adam Ortiz leads the Chicago attack, also with nine goals and one assist on the season, while teammate Leo Acosta has the same scoreline for this season as well.

Sodal, Ortiz and Acosta are tied for third in the league in overall goals this season.

Because of Covid-19 restrictions, both games will be played at Omaha's Off The Wall indoor soccer facility. A limited number of tickets are available. Visit www.omahakingsfc.com for more details.
