Omaha Kings FC Granted 2021 Provisional MASL 2 Status

TAMPA, Fla. – Major Arena Soccer League 2 will welcome the Omaha Kings FC for play in the 2021 season, Commissioner Chris Economides announced today.

The Kings were originally scheduled to play in Major Arena Soccer League 3 this season, but will move up one level for a provisional year to participate in the 2021 M2 season, filling in the place of the New Mexico Runners who are unable to field a team due to local and state Covid-19 restrictions. The Runners expect to resume play for the 2021-22 M2 season.

“In their short history, Omaha has proven to be a very competitive side, so having them move up for this season makes sense,” Economides said. “As we continue to navigate the current pandemic, we are appreciative of all the decisions individual teams are having to make, and very appreciative of teams like Omaha who are able to step in and continue to help us grow the sport at a high level.”

The Kings first played indoors in the Premier Arena Soccer League during the 2019-20 season, finishing third in the Midwest division, and earning an invitation to the PASL national championship tournament.

The Kings will make their debut this weekend at the Heartland Invitational in Wichita, starting Friday, Jan. 22. A full schedule and more information regarding the games will be released in the next day.
