Mustangs Win Big at Home

The Chicago Mustangs continue their quest for the inaugural season of the MASL 2 championship with a 15-4 win against the Muskegon Risers SC at the Grand Sports Arena in front of a sold out crowd.

With the return of their captain, Jesús Flores, the Mustangs' defense performed like a well oiled machine allowing only one goal in the two first quarters and complemented an excelent exhibition from the offense comanded by "El Negro" Sandoval.

The Mustangs opened the scoreboard within a minute of play with a goal from Ephraim Beard assisted by Sandoval.

Goals from Barroche (3'24"), Camarena (4'14") and Rodríguez (11'10")  gave the Mustangs a comfortable lead that they won't lose for the entire game.

In the second quarter, four more goals from Rodríguez (1'17"), Macias (8'04"), Sandoval (10'33" and Barroche (11'01") increased the lead for the Mustangs before Nick Capisciolto (13'43") put the visitors on the board.

The third quarter was another feast of goals for the Mustangs that increased the lead to 13-1 with goals from Corral (7'56"), Centeno (8'28") and Garcia (8'30"-9'19"-10'15"). Matt Schmitt (14'13") obtain the reward for a Risers team that never gave up.

With an eleven goal advantage, coach Gamboa gave rest to goal keeper Jesús Flores and gave the opportunity to Resendiz to gain experience.

The Risers never quit and fought to an even force fourth quarter that saw two goal scored by each team (Ephraim Beard -1'44" and Macias -3'15" for the Mustangs with Willy Guerrero -3'01" and Matt Schmitt -14'10" for the Risers).

The Mustangs will be back in action on Friday Jan 5, 2018 when they will pay back the visit to the Muskegon Risers at the LC Walker Arena (7:05 pm kickoff time).

Mustangs next home game will be Saturday January 6th, 2018 (7:05 pm kickoff time) when they will receive the Cincinnati Swerve at the Grand Sports Arena (Hoffman Estates, IL).
