El Paso sweeps Bandits; Lancers, Demon Hawks roll; Risers, Ambush split; Bombers hang on

In the busiest weekend in MASL 2 to date, it was a whirlwind of high intesity action.

The El Paso Rhinos Uno Seis opened the home portion of their season by sweeping the visiting Kansas Bandits by convincing 11-3 and 16-6 scores, respectively. Alvaro Luevano, with four goals and three assists, and Javier Rodriguez with the hat trick and two assists paced El Paso in game 1, while Angei Lopez paced the Bandits with a goal and assist. Much of the same in the rematch on Sunday as  both Luevano and Mario Arrieta had hatricks to help El Paso sweep the Bandits.

In an upstate New York battle the Rochester Lancers went into Utica and defeated United Elite Krajisnik FC 11-4 Joey Taverenese with three goals and Ali Alomari with a pair led the Lancers. Joe Salinas paced Utica with a goal and an assist.

In a thriller in Amarillo, the Bombers held on for an 8-7 win over the hard luck New Mexico Runners. David Trevizo had a pair for Amarillo Pablo Magallenes also had a goal and two assists, while Austin Snyder had a pair to lead the Runners.

In a battle of Iowa the Demon Hawks scored often and early on their way to a 16-2 win over the Raptors. Ricardo Diegues continued his torrid scoring pace with seven goals and two helpers for a nine-point night. Patrick Kelly had both Raptor goals.

A North division weekend series in Muskegon saw the Risers and Ambush 2 split. The Risers won the opener 12-8 behind a pair of goals from Brandon Dinsmore and Miguel Flores. Kyle Swanner and ironically goalie Liam Gibbs, paced the Ambush 2 with a pair of goals each. In the rematch on Saturday Aamahn Murvin scored with under four minutes to play as the Ambush 2 held on for a gutsy 6-5 win. Taylor Pill scored a pair for the Risers.
