Amarillo, Raptors ring out 2022 with tense, tight wins
The Indoor Soccer Gods were obviously in a partying mood this New Year's Eve weekend.
How else to explain the fact that four of the five Major Arena Soccer League and Major Arena Soccer League 2 game on Saturday and Sunday were decided by just one goal.
The nail-biters included Amarillo Bombers nipping the Wings in Wichita 10-9 and the Iowa Raptors hanging on for a 7-6 win in Cedar Rapids over the Muskegon Risers. Two of the three games in the MASL were one-goal affairs, with Kansas City winning in overtime, and the Mesquite Outlaws and Milwaukee Wave also claiming wins. The Wave's came by two over Utica City before more than 5,500 fans in that team's annual New Year's Eve game.
There's still one more game to go in Week 5, that's Tuesday when the Empire Jets host the San Diego Sockers 2 in a doubleheader day at Pechanga Arena. Later in the day, the MASL Florida Tropics will meet the Empire Stykers.
The official MASL 2 Week 5 review will be published Wednesday morning, with Week 6 shaping up to be one of the biggest in league history with 11 games this coming Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
