Amarillo Bombers will get forfeit win in 10 a.m. Friday playoff game

The Amarillo Bombers will advance to the semi-finals of the 2023-24 MASL 2 playoffs after their scheduled opponents were not able to make it to Wichita Thursday evening due to unanticipated travel issues.

As such, the 10 a.m. CDT game between the Bombers and El Paso will be declared a forfeit by league commissioner Chris Economides.

"With 10 games in three days, the schedule is very tight, and we don't have a lot of flexibility. El Paso was scheduled to play at 10 .m. Friday. Because of the loaded schedule, all eight playoff teams were mandated by me to be in Wichita no later than 7 p.m. CDT Thursday," Economides noted. "We have spent literally the entire day and evening in contact with many players and team representatives from around the league, but we have not been able to overcome El Paso's travel logistics in a way that would get them here in a reasonable time frame to be ready for a 10 a.m. start. All remaining games on the weekend schedule will be played as previously announced starting at 1 p.m. CDT Friday."

Amarillo will hold an open practice at Hartman Arena starting at 10 a.m. CDT for fans who would still like to attend and meet the Bombers. The 1 p.m. matchup will be the Rochester Lancers against the Iowa Raptors. At 4 p.m. the Iowa Demon Hawks will meet the St. Louis Ambush 2, and at 7 p.m. the Wichita Wings will meet Atletico Orlando.  Saturday's schedule will be determined by the outcome of Friday's matchups. Sunday, the consolation final will be at 12 noon and the title tilt will kickoff at 4 p.m.
